Job description We are searching for a scientific assistant who assists and coordinates teaching activities in the international master program Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems. The scientific assistant engages in developing teaching material, teaching coordination and actively teaching spatial planning theory and practice. The interested candidate should be able to navigate spatial planning in Switzerland as well as make connections to other contexts and should be able to engage with the interface between spatial planning, urban planning and urban design.
Profile We are searching for a scientific assistant with
- A master's degree (or near completion of) in spatial planning, urban design, urban planning, or urban studies
- Strong interest in developing and applying pedagogical skills in higher education teaching
- First experience in academic teaching and supervising theses is an asset
- Readiness to further advance pedagogical skills in ETH teaching courses
- Good knowledge and interest of the Swiss spatial planning system. Knowledge of comparative spatial planning is an asset
- Practical experience in Swiss spatial planning or urban design of minimum one year
- Very good command of written and spoken English and German as teaching is conducted in both languages
- Skills and interest in visualization and graphical representation
- Familiarity with the ETH Zürich system at D-BAUG or D-ARCH is an asset
We offer We offera scientific assistant position focused on teaching. The position can be filled in a 30-50% workload (upon negotiation). Please specify the workload that is possible for you in the application. The position is first limited to 2 years but can be prolonged up to 6 years. We are searching for a candidate who can start in summer 2026 (June to August).
