The Institute of Geochemistry and Petrology at ETH Zurich is a world-leading center for research into the fundamental processes that shape our planet. We are excited to announce an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work within the Volcanology and Magmatic Petrology group, led by Prof. Olivier Bachmann.
Project background We are seeking a highly motivated and independent researcher to advance our understanding of magmatic and volcanic systems.
Job description - Develop and lead an independent research program in magmatic petrology, volcanology, and/or geochronology.
- Publish results in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
- Present findings at international conferences.
- Contribute to the teaching of BSc and MSc level courses in petrology and volcanology.
- Actively participate in the intellectual life of the institute and research group.
Profile - A recent PhD in Earth Sciences, with a focus on igneous petrology, volcanology, or geochemistry.
- A demonstrable ability to conduct and publish high-quality research.
- Strong analytical skills, particularly with in-situ techniques (e.g., EPMA, LA-ICP-MS, SIMS).
- Experience in field work, geochronology (e.g., U-Pb, Ar-Ar) and/or numerical modelling of igneous processes.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. German speaking would be an added value.
