Care. is a research and educational project launched in 2023 at the ETH Zürich Department of Architecture, Chair of Architecture and Care, Prof. Anna Puigjaner. It explores how architecture can foster interdependent care, focusing on non-conforming bodies through theory and design.
The project challenges spatial norms shaped by assumptions of "normality" and aims to dismantle unequal care regimes. By recognizing diverse body dispositions, such as ageing, neurodivergence, gender, and race,
Care. rethinks the built environment beyond heteronormative and ableist frameworks.
It promotes a form of architecture that dissolves binaries like caregiver/care receiver and ability/disability, advocating for spatial practices rooted in mutual care, interdependence, and intersectionality.
