Automation Engineer m/f/d, Aargau We are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer (m/f/d) to join a dynamic Pharma Engineering team supporting packaging, warehouse, and logistics systems within pharmaceutical production environments.
The role focuses on the operational engineering and automation of packaging lines for sterile dosage forms, including the planning and implementation of automation solutions for highly automated and interconnected process systems.
You will work in self-organized, interdisciplinary engineering teams delivering automation solutions across the lifecycle of pharmaceutical production systems. The position involves both operational system support and project-based engineering, contributing to continuous improvement, innovation, and the efficient operation of packaging and logistics processes.

Key Responsibilities Automation & Operational Engineering
- Support and maintain existing and new automation systems integrated into the site infrastructure
- Ensure continuous availability and reliability of production systems
- Perform operational engineering activities for packaging and small-batch packaging equipment
- Implement system modifications, troubleshooting, and efficiency improvements
Process Optimization & Innovation
- Continuously optimize process plants and automation systems
- Evaluate, test, and recommend new automation technologies
- Support business partners in developing innovative production and packaging solutions
Project Engineering
- Proactively support the definition and initiation of investment and automation projects
- Prepare cost estimations, schedules, and technical proposals
- Independently manage sub-projects across all project phases
- Ensure responsibility for technical solutions, timelines, budgets, and resources
Collaboration & Compliance
- Work within interdisciplinary teams consisting of internal and external stakeholders
- Contribute to or lead automation-related workstreams within projects
- Support audits and inspections in GMP and HSE environments
- Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical industry standards and regulatory requirements
Requirements - Completed vocational training, technician certification, or university degree Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Technical Computer Science or a comparable technical field
- Fluent German and English
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in automation engineering
- Experience in pharmaceutical or regulated production environments is strongly preferred
- Strong experience with highly automated industrial process systems
- Advanced knowledge of automation platforms such as: Siemens PCS7, Siemens TIA Portal,WinC or similar systems (e.g., B&R)
- Experience with vertical system integration, including connections to: MES systems, Process historians (e.g., PI systems), automation pyramid architectures
- Solid understanding of GMP and GAMP guidelines
