The Computational Mechanics Group in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering of ETH Zurich is seeking one doctoral student.
Project backgroundThe position is associated to a project on phase-field modeling of fracture. The PhD project aims at developing cutting edge models for the fracture behavior of quasi-brittle materials, relevant for a real application of interest to an industrial partner that will provide experimental data. The PhD student will work within a novel theoretical and computational framework for phase-field fracture recently proposed by other members of the Computational Mechanics Group and develop it further from both the theoretical and the computational point of view.
Job descriptionYou will have the unique opportunity to learn, develop and apply a range of cutting-edge modeling and computational techniques.
You will work in an interdisciplinary, cutting-edge, fast-paced research environment, interact with researchers with different specializations, gain skills in computational technologies, and interact with world-class collaborators and industrial partners.
