The Law, Economics, and Business research group, headed by Professor Dr. Alexander Stremitzer at ETH Zurich is searching for Research Assistants (Law / Humanities / Social Sciences).
We are looking for highly motivated students with a strong interest in anthropology, sociology, theology, legal history and theory, religion & law, and/or philosophy, to support a major interdisciplinary research project examining how and why different societies have historically chosen to regulate morally or socially contentious practices in different legal forms.
Job description - Gathering materials (scientific journals, textbooks, statutory texts, codes, court decisions, and doctrinal writings) on the regulation of socially controversial practices in several jurisdictions.
- Reviewing interdisciplinary literature from anthropology, sociology, political theory, philosophy, and religious studies relating to societal taboos, tolerance, decriminalization, legalization, and moral compromise.
- Preparing annotated bibliographies, literature reviews, and research summaries.
- Salaries are competitive and paid according to ETH standards.
Profile - We are looking for advanced students (preferably advanced Bachelor or at Master level) in history, theology/religious studies, anthropology, sociology, philosophy, or related fields.
- Ideal candidates should have strong academic records and be capable of working with complex, interdisciplinary materials.
- They have to be comfortable researching politically or morally sensitive topics and be proactive in locating relevant sources across multiple fields.
